It's possible that Document Explorer (aka. "DExplorer") is set to a font that either isn't present on your system, is corrupted, or set to some odd variant.

I recommend starting DExplorer then click Tools | Options and then the Environment | Fonts and Colors node.  There is a setting there for "Font," which is normally set to "Automatic."  Try selecting another font and see if that makes a difference.  If you experience similar problems with other fonts, it could indicate a deeper problem (possibly with DExplorer).
