Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

For your question, did you try to install the VS but stuck at the Windows Update?

If so, the precondition of installing VS well, is that all Windows patches up.

Please try the steps below:

1. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & security > Windows Update .

2.  If you want to check for updates manually, select Check for updates. Select Advanced options, and then under Choose how updates are installed, select Automatic (recommended).

If your OS is Win 7, please refer to Win 7 Sp1 to apply to it well.
