There is a Project Server 2010 solution starter called the Workspace Project Custom Field Web Part available from http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/P2010SolutionStarter that will render Project Custom fields as seen in project center out in the workspaces. If the web part doesn't meet your exact requirements, the code will give you the correct direction in which to build your own.
