We are planning to configure ADFS SQL farm for an application specific to our department. Our Domain Admins are scared about this as we have never configured and it updates Program Data container, they are not sure how it would affect other departments in the organization. So, we have some questions that are unanswered.

Does this affect any the departments or my organization?

Can other departments configure their own separate farm when required for their applications?

Can we have multiple ADFS farms under one AD?

Does this affect any the departments or my organization?

No. AD FS creates a certificate sharing container under CN=Program Data in Active Directory. For each farm in your AD it will create a new GUID reference under the container.

Can other departments configure their own separate farm when required for their applications?

Yes, this is no issue.

Can we have multiple ADFS farms under one AD?

Multiple AD FS farms in the same AD are no issue.
