Hi, since the last visual studio 2017 update i can't open the dataset designer view with any of my datasets. If I try "open with" the "Common Editor Factory" is set as default, if I change it to "Dataset editor" i get the error "object reference not set to an instance of an object" again.

Unfortunately, I could nor repro this in my side.

what I did is add -> new item  -> data ->dataset,

右键点击 解决方案资源管理器中的数据集 - > 打开：

Right click  Dataset in solution explorer -> open with :

如果我用"通用编辑器工厂"打开它，它就无法打开，但我改变了到"数据集编辑器"然后我可以毫无问题地打开它。

if I open it with "Common editor factory", it could not be open, but i changed to "Dataset Editor" then I could open it with no problem.

VS2015和VS2017可以在同一台机器上共存，如果你真的需要安装VS2015，你可以去页面：

VS2015 and VS2017 could co-exist in same machine, if you really need install VS2015 you could go to the page:

https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/older-downloads/
