We are the largest producer of Live Video High School sports broadcasts within the state of Indiana.  We have been using Media Encoder 9 since June of 2003.  Now that there is an update that fixed Espressions Encoder 3, we would like to move to the latest technology.

Huge problem since we started is when trying to use multiple file sources to insert commericals and/or interviews into a live broadcast.  There doesn't seem to be a way for the announcers to hear what is being encoded from the file sources.  Therefore, they have no idea when the Encoder is switching back to the Live source.

I've hacked our Dell laptop so that we can monitor the audio coming from the line-in jack, but we cannot monitor what is being produced by the Encoder.  Desparately hoping that Expressions Encoder would have solved this problem.

Also if those file sources are audio only, the live video source just freezes until the audio file is done playing.  It is possible to create a mixed source by using an audio file in conjunction with a live video feed, but the Encoders seem to only allow a video source to be used in one source.  Since the camera feed is already being used for the live source, it can't be used again.  Let alone multiple times for each commercial.

The other major feature for the sportscasting world would be to allow us to capture to a file at a greater resolution than what our streaming requirements will allow.  We would love to be able to produce high-resolution copies to sell to fans after the fact.  We have tried capturing the video feed with Windows Movie Maker, but once again it knows that the camera feed is already in use so it won't allow it to be used again.

I'm going to agree with what Darrel says, he just about points out everything we need with EE as well, can we make this a wish item for EE4 or is it too late? Specially the bit about mixing audio/video streams, adding file sources while broadcasting, but even more the ability to capture higher quality than is being broadcasted.
