I've searched and searched for an an answer to my question but as the answers are a little vague for beginner like myself I'm wondering if this software will do the following

Basically i would like to utilize web cam technology to create snippets of my daily life around my home. I thought that the best way might have been to get a security system that records what the cameras pick up on motion detect. I then plan to edit the shots taken & create a documentary for online resale in many formats.

Sorry, this would not be possible with the Expression Encoder. You would need to be encoding from each camera all the time from a separate instances of the Encoder on the system. Depending on you hardware, you would only be able to do a few at a time and all the cameras would need to be connected to the machine. There are solutions out there for security cameras that run over the network and tell software on the computer to start encoding based on motion but I am not familiar with them
