If so what would this configuration look like? Would one of the two devices need to be powered off? Or can it programatically be controlled via the PC?

Making a new thread, since this is a new question and not related to the previous post.

Some caveats to my answer are as follows:

  1. follow guidelines when using XBox 360 hardware (dev only, no near mode or 640x480 depth, etc...)
  2. all mentioned issues when using 2 devices apply (available bandwidth on USB bus, need a lot of CPU, no splitters, etc...)

Both devices can be connected at the same time, given #2 is sufficient. If you are planning on using both in your application, be sure to enumerate the devices and setup accordingly.

What is your intended scenario? Are you trying to use both at the same time, or is the idea to test your application behavior with both and determine the differences? Given that the only hardware that is supported for commercial use is the Kinect for Windows, I wouldn't spend much time with testing compatibility with the Xbox version.
