Hi,

We have an application written in WPF and a custom payment & licensing solution for it.

We are considering writing our next application in UWP (targetting XBox and desktop), and would like to leverage the App Store for distribution and updates, but integrate with our existing payment & licensing solution.

Can I submit a "free" application to the App Store, but have the application require users to log in (against our existing infrastructure) before they can actually use the application?

I’m afraid that you cannot get it. The windows store policy would not allow you to do it.

You can let users to log via your own service in your app. Then you could get this user’s data from your own server. According to these data, you can check if current user can use these functions in app.
