Refer to the error message, I found the following similar issues:

VS2017 Fails to Start with "Unknown Error"

This is a new random corruption issue of the private registry file on Windows 7, what’s your VS version? Please go to Help-About Microsoft Visual Studio and check the version, now the latest version is 15.4.2, if it is not the latest one, please re-run the VS installer as administrator and click ‘Update’ button to upgrade, then check this issue again.

If this issue persists, please have a try to delete C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\15.0_[somenumber], if you have Check Point and Symantec, please upgrade Check Point to E80.62.
