Hello,

The latest version of Windows CardSpace "Geneva", Beta 2, can be downloaded here. 

There are several differences between Windows CardSpace v1 and "Geneva". 

• CardSpace "Geneva" is a Beta and therefore requires users to go out and download it.  CardSpace v1 is a part of the .NET Framework and therefore exists on most machines already.  Additionally, CardSpace "Geneva" does not currently support Windows XP.
• CardSpace "Geneva" does not support self-issued Information Cards (also known as personal cards).  Only managed cards are supported.
• CardSpace "Geneva" has a more streamlined UI experience that is inline with the page rather than taking up the whole screen.  See this link.
• CardSpace "Geneva" supports several new features, including silent Information Card provisioning, the CardTile, X.509 certificate references in cards, and enterprise policy for zero-click sign-in.  Many of these features work especially well with "Geneva" Server, which can also be downloaded at the link above.

As for your final question, which to prefer depends on what you're trying to do and who your prospective users are.  It's important to keep in mind that both versions of CardSpace work on open WS-* standards, meaning that if you want to deploy an STS that issues cards or accepts tokens from CardSpace, you can make it work with both versions.
