Been reading your posts, very interesting, and greatly appreciated.
Used iView for years, then went to Aperture (stills only), but bought Expressions Media 1 anyway.

Q3. Is there any benefit to running Mac Server on a third computer, with all the media.

UPDATE - FOLLOW UP
So I just finished cataloging about 130,000 files, 90,000 stills and the balance video. Im about 1/3 of the way.

Now there are no thumbnails, just a rendering error.
Also, incredibly slow, spinning wheel constantly.
Am running 20GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT card w 512 MB.
Dual monitors, but same issue on each.

Is this a sign of problems?

A1. Expression Media recently moved to a new group at Microsoft - the one that is centered on pro photographers. They are still working on the future plans, and I don't have any inside information. It seems like it's taking a long time for an answer, and I'm just as curious as all of you.

Q2. How do I access all the drives, external and internal, on both my MacPros (peer-to-peer network).
A2. You need to make a connection through the Finder - on the go menu, connect to server. I think there must be some way to set up sharing first, but I really don't know what that is. I'll see if I can get JP (the Mac smart person) to pop in with an answer to that.

Q3. Is there any benefit to running Mac Server on a third computer, with all the media.
A3. Actually, I'd stick to peer to peer.

Q4. Can I install EM2 on my MacBook Pro17 and use this to access the media on the MacPro systems?
A4. Yes

Now there are no thumbnails, just a rendering error. - What kind of files? NEF will only build thumbnails on Snow Leopard if you are using the Apple rendering engine. (Change under preferences and rebuild items)
Also, incredibly slow, spinning wheel constantly. Sometimes the spinning wheel gets stuck, but the import finishes anyway. However, you are cataloging a huge number of items, and you may be running close to the 1.8 gig limit on the catalog. Depending on your preview and thumbnail options, you may run out of space after 2000 images. The hard upper limit is 128,000, so you won't be able to get all 130,000 items catalogued.
