Hi,

You can create a new managed property or use the ready-made managed property starts with "RefinableString" instead of editing the "OfficeNumber" managed property. Map "People:Office" crawled property or other crawled properties as you want to this managed property.

Note: When you have created a new managed property or edit a managed property, the library or list that will use the refiner must be re-crawled and re-indexed before the property will appear as an option in the refinement configuration. See Request re-indexing of a document library or list.
