I'm maintaining a database and I just discovered that the modification I am currently working on was based on an earlier version than the current version. The current version is 2.5d and I made these changes to version 2.5. This means there have been at least 4 changes since the version I am working on. Now I am faced with merging in these changes. I don't have any reliable documentation on what these changes were so I need to compare the databases and find the differences. Is there any reliable way to do this? I'm using Access 2010. I'm not allowed to download or install software. Thanks.

A good place to start might be the MSysObjects table to see what objects have been added or possibly changed.  Hopefully it will help eliminate a good portion of the objects in the database that don't need to be reviewed.

The Database Documenter is another tool that you can try.  Export the reports to text files that can then be compared with MS Word or many other comparison tools.  Naturally this depends on the number of objects in the database, but it's better than guessing.

For future changes, is it possible to add a table to the database to keep track of revisions or are you locked out of that too?  I like to keep revision notes in a table within the file to help me remember changes I've made in the past.  The notes are time-stamped and this makes the project somewhat self-contained.
