I am fairly new to VS and .NET programming. I have looked to see if I can find the solution in other threads but I fear I just don't know enough to determine this outcome.

I have been working on a solution for a couple of weeks and everything was fine until this morning. It is a single-project solution. It appeared that the same file was open twice in the environment and the solution is locking VS each time I open it. Others open fine. I have installed the latest update. I have run resetsettings (which didn't appear to do anything different). I don't have any test settings.

Anyway, the last time, I did a File|Close for what appeared to be the offending file and it closed (then hung up) but when I re-opened the solution, the file I thought was the problem wasn't open and the dadgum thing is still locking up. I ran the solution this morning successfully but ran a previous build because there was an error in a class that I was still working on. In one of my earlier attempts, I removed that file to see if that was the issue. At a minimum, I thought I would just get the error that it couldn't find the file, which is no problem.

This last time I opened, Server explorer is working but as soon as I click on the code section, it hangs.

As I continued to find the issue, I copied the solution directory to another name and tried to re-create. In the process, I tried opening the solution in the "bad" directory and it opened successfully, with no items open.

I do not know what happened or why, but this has appeared to resolve my issue and I am back up again.
