Visual Studio makes it possible to include existing files, but how can I use the language resource files from a WP7 app in the WP8 version of the app? The stumbling block appears to be how the multilingual toolkit handles the translation files.

The app uses a base resource file and including in the project seems to confuse the WP8 project.

Try this:

Copy the WP7 App to a new folder

Convert the new WP7 Copy to WP8 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsphone/develop/jj207030(v=vs.105).aspx

Grab the files you want from there (already in WP8 format)
