I always get "This file cannot be opened" when trying to open an invalid file.   If invalid file cannot be opened, how can we Validate it?  Opening file in Word reportes it corrupted and properly tells which element is in wrong place (I am missing p inside tc).

Using DocumentReflector in previous version I was at least able to reflect an invalid file to see whats wrong.  Now I cannot open to reflect nor validate in new tool.

For opening file with Productivity Tool, if the file is Invalid in XML level (invalid in XML syntax) , then the tool will not be able to load it. If the file is only invalid in Open XML Level, then the tool will be able to open it, validate it and reflect code for it.

The idea behind that is if a file is not even a valid xml file, then there is no way to load, validate, and reflect code. In your case, if the files you have contains invalid XML content, then it is by design to not open them.
