Operating Windows 7 on laptop.  Using and HP Officejet printer.  Several days ago I was not able to access the scanner icon on my laptop.  Ran the HP Scanner utility which stated that Windows Imaging Service was not functioning.  Called HP and they informed me that this is a Windows 7 issue.  How do I restore or turn on this application?

Identical problem.  All was working perfectly until the 13 Dec when we discovered the scan application for our HP Officejet Pro 8500 didn't work.  I followed the same path as mjposey describes above with no success so far.  Any help appreciated.
