We have selenium tests that run every time a build is deployed from Team Services. These are associated to test cases in MTM, however the results do not update when ran through the build definition.

I've tried searching for a way to set this up but came up short.

MTM is just a client, there isn’t the way to update test case result via MTM. With TCM command, you can publish test result to TFS.

The simple way for your requirement is that, you can execute automated tests in Build vNext using Test Plan, Test suites.
