You may show Visual Studio 2008 lifecycle to your respective team, as we already know, the VS 2008 is beyond Microsoft support lifecycle.

The best practice is to upgrade to VS 2015, if you consult with your team and they agree about this, you could  download the VS 2015 RTM from ISO download website .
