I don't know of a Microsoft forum that would be a better fit but I'll let a moderator make that call. In the meantime, perhaps this will help... First determine what you want to look for or detect. A risk analysis would be good to figure out if you want to monitor traffic within your network or monitor traffic entering/leaving the perimeter. There are some mailing lists on SecurityFocus that may help. Especially the one on IDS (focus-ids-query@securityfocus.com).
