I have a scenario where complex webpart1 which has controlled templates, .aspx files in _layouts. I have some enhancements and thought of having multiple instance of same webpart so my teammate work on some portion while I am working on one feature.

I tried renaming the webpart2 App package name but when I install it removes the original webpart1 and redeploys it. I want to have a same webpart with 2 instances. Will you please let me know what are the changes I have to do?

As i understood , you and your team mate want to work on the same visual webpart project .And you want to deploy more than one instance of the same webpart (Correct me if i am wrong) .

为避免任何覆盖，您可以执行以下操作

for avoiding any override you can do the following

1-创建一个临时(可视化Webpart)SharePoint项目并在其中复制功能.然后您就可以开发目标功能了.

1- Create a temp (visual webpart) SharePoint project and copy the features there . then you can develop on the target feature .

2-和其他团队同事可以进行原始项目.

2- and other team colleague can work on the original project .

3- after you've finished your unit test and make sure everything works fine, then do integration with the original one. (by moving/copy) the new artifacts.
