I created a Search Service Application in my SP 2013 Foundation and now I want to delete it because it wasn't quite what I wanted.

When I went through the process of deleting the service application in CA, the proxy was deleted but the main Service Application remained. (side note: it also constantly shows "Stopping" under the status and doesn't allow me to change anything. Both 'Manage' and 'Administrators' buttons are greyed out.)

I tried to delete it in PS as well with the same errors.

Hi Fmorrison- clear your config cache, restart timer jobs and try again. If that doesn't work, use powershell to remove it.
