every morning i start up my (new) pc, and the files from the previous day have disappeared.  i cant find them anywhere.  i generally save them on the desktop. can someone please tell me why this is so?

So, no answer yet, (moved? Where?); I have a similar problem, it seems some files are disappearing on me; I guess they don't figure this question is worth much, but you're not alone, I have disappearing files as well!
