The other day i noticed on the azure an alarm on my VMM configuration stating that the VMM server is not accesible. checking the server all services are up and running, including Microsoft azure recovery services management agent and system center virtual machine manager. also checked the provider version and im running 5.1.37 (the latest as of today). everything seems ok except that VMM reports an error under settings > Microsoft Azure Site Recovery. it reports the error:
Microsoft Azure site recovery provider couldn't be started on this server
VMM cannot complete the virtual server operation on the XXX server because of the error: Microsoft azure site recovery provider couldn't be initialized. reason: (Virtual machine manager is unable to retrieve previously stored password information. either restore the key data from a previous backup or enter the information again.)
Given the hint of the error i tried re-registering the server on the vault. this did not solved the error but interestingly on the azure portal the server comes back online for a second, becoming not connected and unavailable shortly afterwards.
i have searched all over have not found anything on how to "enter the information again". is there a way to solve this problem as i can't perform any new recovery operation until the VMM server is back online.
Did you tried rebooting the VMM server once?
