I have enabled the Site collection audit settings of an O365 SharePoint Online site and when I run the Audit log reports, the following error message displays:

I've tried the logs for Content viewing as well as the Custom report, but no luck.

There is definitely data in the site and the audit settings have been enabled since we created the site a couple of months ago. Automatically trim the audit log is set to Yes and number of days is set to 365.  All the events to audit checkboxes are checked.
