I am trying to integrate my SAP data in the citrix environment to Azure cloud so using Azure Data FActory with SAP ECC Connector as source and Azure Blob end point as my destination.

our current ECC connector is built based on OData. for your questions:

1) if the endpoint of your ECC can be accessed via internet. then there is no need to use self-hosted IR although for SAP data, it is recommended to use self-hosted IR so that you only need to grant odata endpoint of your SAP to the self-hosted IR machine which mostly is in your own network rather than public internet access.

Once you have the self-hosted IR installed, you can try to test from ADF portal to connect to your ECC with the self-hosted IR chosen as the one you configured which can access your ECC

2) OData goes through HTTP(s), so you will need to get the relative port opened between the self-hosted IR machine and your SAP gateway.
