Im a newbie at this. I have a dedicated server with a public IP. Its running sql server 2005 but Im having a challenge.

I am storing images and documents and the server database is getting big. is there a way I can store images in a folder instead of the database and just store the path in the database while using an public IP cause having a hard time sharing the folder too.

You can do that. Actually in one of my project i did the same thing. Please make sure you use the virtual path in DB (i.e. ~/images/somefolder/someimage.png). This will help you map it correctly with to the url.
