I often times have to create projects on a file server and accessing these projects via Visual Studio 2005 is very slow. I can open a small aspx file and it can take up to 5 minutes to load. I don't have any problem navigating the network drive using Windows or Dreamweaver. Why is it so slow for Visual Studio 2005?

Visual Studio 2005 is running on Vista machine. I don't have any problems working locally. I can't see anything that would be causing the delay when I use a network drive.

I recommend that you download File Monitor (filemon) , set the filter to devenv.exe and start monitoring as you open a project on the network mapping. In File Monitor look for time gaps and see with what files devenv is having issues with. Also try again with your anti virus software disabled.
