Hello there.
I need some help/advice please!
I am set to develop an application for a Smallish Touch Screen PC (AFOLUX
afl-07a). This is a x86 based AMD system. We chose WinCE as our OS because
Windows Embedded was to expensive to license for the amount of devices that we
want to roll out.
Now, I am tasked with developing our application on this WinCE device. It will
be a .Net compact framework application. My first task therefore is getting a
development environment going with visual studio 2005 ( 2008 and wince 6.0 PB
does not exist!? )
1.) I have managed to build an OS with PB and deployed it to the device and it
works.
2.) Next step would be to build the SDK and get the emulator running. This is
where I run into problems. PB does not support x86 emulator, only armv4. This
is where my knowledge starts getting dodgy as I have no idea how to compensate
for this. How do I make an dev environment without debug capabilities!?!
What I have been trying is fooling VS2005 to just run my executable instead of
trying to start an emulator. It seems to me that I can run these executables on
my windows XP. I can also debug them by manually starting that debugger that
comes with Microsoft .NET Framework SDK v2.0. What I want though is that if I
am in VS2005 IDE and I press F5 it just runs the program instead of trying to
launch an emulator and deploy it there. Is this at all possible? If not how am
I going to get a development environment set up? Must I create a fake armv4
WinCE Os and just develop my app on that?
Please Help. I have searched everywhere for help but cannot find anyone that is
in my situation.
