Does peopleeditor support the above situation?

according to you problem you want to assign users from ad_group1
sharepoint default behavior is to show user which are added from domain but you cannot say dataset, you can configure peoplepicker in such a way that they get values from other domain if require but you cannot get users from ad users.

you need to do customization in such a way that user selects ad_group and then from this group you extract users and show them and then from that let them select users.
