There is an open issue against the Microsoft.Azure.DocumentDb package which was raised Jan 31, 2016. I have just encountered this issue while trying to prepare a LINQ query using the latest package (version 2.1.3 - published some 990 days after the issue was raised!).

Due to implementation details which cannot be changed, I'm unable to use the suggested "workaround" and am therefore looking for an update from Microsoft regarding when this issue might be resolved (the issue is both fundamental and easily reproducible).
