We are in the transition phase between Exchange on premise and Office 365. Currently all mailboxes are online (printers also send directly to smtp.office365.com and all other applications that send emails) and our SharePoint 2013 server is the only remaining server that uses our local Exchange server for sending email.

Note that everything I described below was tested in a test environment.

I have configured an SMTP relay (with IIS 6) and can send emails from my SharePoint-test site using this relay. So the mechanics of sending email "ShairePont -> SMTP relay via IIS -> Office 365" works fine.

SMTP Relay Configuration Details:
The SMTP relay is configured to use SmartHost SMTP.office365.com on port 587 with TLS and is authenticated with account [e-mail].

The problem is the following, in my production environment (which uses the local Exchange server directly), the emails are sent "from the user" who does the action, however in my testing environment described above all the emails are Sent from [e-mail].

Exemple: User1 share a file with User2. In my test environment (via IIS STMP relay), the User2 will receive the notification of the file being shared but FROM the user vsad-ti@, I want it to be sent from User1.
