Hi, 

I have set up a 2010 workflow to send emails automatically once the "Assign Member" column is filled out. I have set up the "workflow look up for a user" to return the field source back as a string. 

Here is the logic

If current item: Team Member is empty

              wait for Team Member to be not empty

then log Assigned Request to the workflow history list

Email Current item:Team Member

Once the workflow is triggered automatically when the new item is created, it will crash at this portion of the workflow and never send the email to the team member. If however, I start the workflow manually it will work fine. 

I am unsure of what the issue is. I have asked a colleague with non admin permissions to restart the workflow and he was also able to start and end the workflow correctly when restarting the workflow automatically. 

The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information

This is the error message I receive, but the column is present. Should i not be returning the field as a string?
