We have an AD account named SP_PROD_ADMIN. In Central Admin I've added the group as an Administrator and gave it Full Access to the Term Store under the Permissions on the Managed Metadata Service. In the Term Store Management Tool on Central admin, I added the group to the Term Store Administrators as well.

When I log into the app server as a member of the SP_Prod_Admin group, I access the Term Store Management Tool through Central admin I can add/edit terms in the term store. However, when I try accessing the Term Store Management Tool from the site (not on the server). I can see the terms, but only get the General tab and cannot add or edit terms.
