I need to display the contents(images/videos/news feed etc) from the subsite into the parent site.For that, I have used content query web part in the parent site.

In the query section I have selected "Show items from the following site and all subsites:" and selected the particular subsite and click on Apply and Ok button.

But I am getting the message "This query has returned no items. To configure the query for this Web Part"

On the CQWP property window, Have you select the "List Type" ? , by default it shows from the Pages Library. Change it as per your media type library.

If you used any content type on the list/library to store your video files, then select relevant content type too.
