I''m unable to connect Sql server remotely over the Management studio.
im getting following error.

Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of operation or the server is not responding.

Im using sql server 2008 R2

Almost all of the solutions boil down to a communication issue. A firewall is blocking the port, the default port is changed, etc.

Firewall (i.e. port 1433) was blocking and hence i was getting the error. I have opened it from network admin and resolved from problem.
