How much content are you indexing?  My normal rule of thumb is to have about 30% of the size of the corpus as working space for the index.  So if you have a total of about 1.5 TB in content then your folder size is about right.  1.5 TBs in content between Sites and OneDrive (MySites) isn't really that much.  A lot of that is temporary storage that will be reclaimed as the Index consolidates.  But if that describes your situation then there really is no fix other than allocate more drive space.
