I have successfully created links to documents within the SharePoint library, however, I am trying to determine if there is a way to sort the linked documents, for example, by document type or product name. I can sort the document list by these categories as I have the columns set up in this way, but I am not given the option to add a document type or a product name to the links to documents that I have added. Is there a way in SharePoint to accomplish this? All I can presently do is add a title and the URL link for the links to documents. Thanks!

1. In the left navigation panel, select the list or library you wish to modify.
2. Click Settings. A drop down box will appear. Select Create View.
3. Or, on the far right, you’ll see a window specifying your current view. Click the drop down arrow on that window and select Create View.
4. Select the view format that best suits your purpose, typically Standard View.
5. Fill in a name for your custom view.
6. Select who will be able to use the view, only yourself or anyone on the site.
7. Select the columns you wish to display and the order in which you want them displayed.
8. Select your sorting preferences. You can sort by up to two columns.
9. Select your filtering preferences.
10. Fill in the rest of the form and click OK.
