It sounds to me like you''re trying to show the first page of the PDF that was uploaded by the user. This sounds like a reasonable request and a nice feature for the end user. Looking around, I found the article ASP.NET PDF Viewer User Control Without Acrobat Reader Installed on Client or Server[^] that may just do the trick for you. While it is in VB, it should be easy enough to convert, or just use it the way that it is.
