I downloaded the new (Feb. 2010) version. It said to uninstall the old using Add/Remove Programs. There is no Change or Remove button... OK, I''ll try to install the new. (Maybe there was a typo...). My installation, June 09, does display a Remove button so maybe your installation got messed up somehow. Have you asked the Toolkit team over on the codeplex site?

<edit> If you cannot figure it out and get desperate, there is a registry key for the toolkit in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer (on my system). I would surmised that is what the newer version is looking for when it says you have to uninstall the previous version. You could try and delete the registry keys for the toolkit and then try to install the newer version, after making backups of the registry of course.

Or you could try running msiexec with the uninstall option using the Toolkit product code.

After running MSIinv (a couple of times) to get the product code...

Here are the options I have tried (multiple times) - with responses:

msiexec /uninstall /x:5EE6E987-1B79-4A93-832B-27472C7D1579 /q:f /l:v - no go (3 times to insure I didn''t miss a quick msg...)

msiexec /uninstall 5EE6E987-1B79-4A93-832B-27472C7D1579 - no go

Then:
msiexec /fpecms wpftoolkit.exe - Version not installed

As I figured, it did not work. Interesting. Other references, as well as you, seem to say that the syntax should work. I didn''t think so because of the line in the log:

MSI (c) (C8:94) [10:12:24:675]: ******* RunEngine: ******* Product: 5EE6E987-1B79-4A93-832B-27472C7D1579.msi

The Product Code is NOT a .msi flie...but we try it anyway. :) The log even showed it that way. There has to be someone or something out there that ran into this problem and has created a solution for it... I hope.
