I had made Access data base for managing documents after that I decided to advance that and transfer them to sql server and make a web site with search engine for searching documents. So I decided to learn visual studio.net. I read a lot of tutorials files and hear to free videos around 5 months, about HTML, DAL (DATA ACCESS LAYER), BLL but I don’t have good progress. I could make main page (navigation page) but I don’t know how to make search engine. Also I don’t know VB.NET; just I can edit and hardly understand them. So please help what I have to do? I have put a lot of time for learning visual studio.net, but I can’t make web site with search engine. I have just good knowledge of Microsoft access and VB editor in this program. And like to jump and make the web site with search engine. Please explain to me what are the priorities? And what I have to do for catching progress in shortest time? And if you know address of open source sample web site that works similar to document management and searching please send to me. Or some books and videos that step by step can help me. I am floated between a lot of video, tutorials, and i do not know how to execute them for my job.

I already suggested here[^] that you should learn ASP.NET, if you want to use Microsoft technologies. If you want to use open source then try Apache[^]. The first thing to do is create simple web site samples and get them working so you understand how the pieces fit together. When you feel comfortable with that you can move on to the more advanced applications. For more tutorials take a look at the ASP.NET articles here on CodeProject, and use Google for a wider search.
