You can set the precompiled handlebars output to the template property (not templateName) on you ember view. This is what ember also does under the hood

MyApp.MyView = Ember.View.extend({
  templateName: "myViewWhatever",
  template: Ember.Handlebars.compile('<p>{{blah}}</p>'),
})
