Howdy, Mark.
Also a "newbie" to Access but have other DBMS experience...Other than a
search on Google the other way is to create a new form with cmd buttons that
open up the desired forms/reports and other code as needed. Then use this
custom form as the startup form.

What do you mean by "switchboard creator alternative"? The Switchboard
Manager is overkill -- a complex solution to a simple problem. I, like many
experienced Access developers, create my own Switchboard Forms, open a new
form (usually not bound to a table/query) and place command buttons on it
that open other forms (or, rarely, perform other functions) or reports. If
there are so many that you need it, you can create a high-level Switchboard
Form that opens other Switchboard Forms. In my experience that is necessary
only if the application is a bit on the complex side. In any case, I have
never had need for a table to "drive" the switchboard forms as the
Switchboard Manager does. But I have sometimes used tables of features,
forms, or reports along with my switchboards to be used as the RowSource of
a Combo Box for selecting an action, a form, or a report.
