Please share if we can remove the Built in Administrators group from the Collection Administrators group and they can be added without issues later on. There is a huge list of users present in this group so need to remove this group for security reasons.

You can go to the Security tab under the team project collection, navigate to Project Collection Administrators group -- Members, and find the BUILTIN Administrators group, then clickremove. Check the screenshot below:
