I recently started upgrading the hotfix by going to update tile in dashboard directly but it show State: Preparation Failed.

So I checked MS articles and followed the instructions to apply the updates in AzureStack and tried to resume it but it still failing. Please let me know how I can apply recent hotfix

Unfortunately this option will not work for ASDK, it is only for a full Azure Stack installation. The only current way to update your ASDK instance is to reinstall the ASDK.
