When I linked an external 2016 Excel spreadsheet to my 2016 Visio drawing I get a "Microsoft Visio Security Warning" whenever I try and edit the color of text <g class="gr_ gr_61 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" data-gr-id="61" id="61">or  properties</g> of a line. It is still editable via right-clicking the text or line but I would like to disable this feature and be able to use the ribbon? I have searched online but haven't found a solution. Any ideas?

Update:

Well I see now in 2016 the right-click text edit/color no longer functions either ( it did in a previous version of Visio, either 2010 or 2013), so now once I have linked an external file I can't change text color. This really makes Visio non-functional at this point. I don't understand why another office product would cause this security warning and not allow me to change the properties of other text, lines, shapes etc.?

Second Update:

So just spent a couple of hours trying to get through to Microsoft tech support and they want $499.00 to provide me with tech support on this issue. How does a company justify charging more than the cost of the software to provide support on two of their programs running on their operating system. If anyone has dealt with this in the past and have a solution I would appreciate any help.
