I am an MSDN subscriber with access to subscriber downloads.

There seems to be nothing I can do to install Visio 2016.  I have tried both of the Visio 2016 downloads, one says (Discontinued).

Both of these seem to want to install Office.  I don't want Office, I only want Visio, but neither of them manages to install it.  During my latest attempt I have been looking at this message for about 4 hours:

I did once get to the point where I had a copy of Visio.EXE on the machine but it wouldn't run due to some missing component (appvisvsubsystems32.dll).

I'm installing on a currently updated Windows 10.

Does anybody know where I can get a Visio 2016 install that actually works?

Although Visio is sold as a stand-alone application, it is an Office product. So this is an expected behavior that when we install the click-to-run edition of Visio , the notification displays as "Office". 

Regarding to the missing component (appvisvsubsystems32.dll), is there any detailed error message about this?
Have you tried installing Visio on another machine to narrow down if the issue is related to the particular machine?

Based on my research, Appvisvsubsystems32.dll is a type of DLL file associated with Microsoft Application Virtualization developed by Microsoft Corporation for the Windows Operating System. In current situation, you may try to run Windows System File Checker ("sfc /scannow") and see if there will be any improvement.
