TFS to Project server integration configuration appears to OK – settings were verified by running TFSAdmin ProjectServer with the following switches:
- /GetRegisteredPWA
- /GetMappedCollections
- /GetMappedProjects
- /GetMappedWorkItemTypes
- /DownloadFieldMappings
Note: the TFS server was renamed after the PWA was registered but before the collection was mapped.
However when I try verify data synchronization, from MS Project client, nothing seems to be happening:
- I've opened a published enterprise project from the PWA URI
- In Gantt Chart view, I've added 2 columns: "Publish to Team Project" and "Work Item Type (TFS)" – (should the 2nd column have drop down support? – only the first does)
- I pick a task and for "Publish to Team Project" I select "yes" and for "Work Item Type (TFS)" I type "Task" (definitely a mapped work item type)
- I select File > Info > Publish (I select "do not create a site at this time" - Do I need to create a site?) – I press Publish – I see "Publish Completed successfully" in status bar at bottom.
In TFS, the Task Work Item is just not showing up.
- Tfsadmin projectserver /getsyncmessages is not showing any messages
- The event log is not showing any error messages.
I am running Project 2010 version 14.0.6123.5001 (32 bit) on the same machine that I am running Visual Studio 2010 SP1.
Is the Team Foundation add-in detecting that the project plan is a mapped plan? I do NOT see a view called Team Foundation Gantt (Project Server).
How can I get data synchronization working ?
How can I troubleshoot this issue ?
so if the TFS server was renamed, is there some config setting on the project server side to point to the new TFS URI ???
When I open the enterprise project from Project 2010, a message in the tray says it is trying to verify TFS connectivity, and then a messagebox pops up
Team Foundation services are not available from server http://xyz:8080/tfs
it appears that project server is pointing to the old TFS server name!
If I edit the hosts file on my client and point the old TFS host name to its ip address, then it works!
However I dont want to do this for every client or modify the TFS, so how do I update the PWA to point to the new TFS domain name ?
