I purchased the MS Encoder 4 Pro (approx $200 USD) application/license in early fall 2011.

I suppose my basic question is how do I update the application?  Is there an auto-update feature whereby it goes out to Microsoft's support site and checks for updates to the application?

If not, do I need to install SP2 or is that for non-PRO versions only??

I downloaded SP2 and when I run it, it never mentions an update to PRO.

Yes, I would recommend you update to SP2 as you'll have the latest features and bug fixes. There isn't an auto-update feature but the same SP2 install will update the free version or the Pro version to the latest version.
